Dr. Sarah Johnson is a distinguished Flinders University MD graduate of 2013. Following her graduation, she embarked on a journey that included an internship at the Lyell McEwin and a year at the RAH. Choosing to explore Australia, she worked in various surgical departments across all states and territories, solidifying her passion for surgery, which she discovered while she was a med student.
Dr. Johnson found the practice of minimising scarring during the operative process a challenge she enjoyed. This realisation led her to pursue a fellowship in general practice with an aim for developing a career in skin cancer medicine. She has also further developed her skills by developing her knowledge around the topical treatment of precancerous and early skin cancers reducing the overall risk of developing skin cancers. She has recently added photodynamic therapy to the services that she offers as a better tolerated alternative to effudex for patients. Dr. Johnson is currently advancing her skills through an advanced certificate in skin cancer medicine with the Australasian College of Dermatology, aspiring to achieve fellowship status with the College of Skin Cancer Medicine in the future.
In addition to her medical journey, Dr. Johnson brings a unique skill set with undergraduate studies in medical imaging. Her special interest lies in ultrasound-guided removals, especially for deep implanons and foreign bodies. While she consults as a general practitioner elsewhere, she is not currently taking on new GP patients.
Beyond the realm of medicine, Dr. Johnson is a talented embroiderer, having earned several prizes for her needlework at the Royal Adelaide Show. She also finds joy in leisure travel, with plans to explore diverse destinations purely for pleasure in the future.
